The simultaneous/non-simultaneous emerging and receding of light and dark-coloured surfaces creates a rhythmic alternating two-way movement from there to here and from here to there; the Other’s gaze and my own gaze join each other in a sort of gaze fugue. The strong, often slightly overlapping application of colour which can make something visible within something else or somewhere else generates an opacity which catches the eye as if in a piece of amber. Occasionally the multi-coloured sky resolves itself to reflect a celestial blue.
